Is this really a bright idea?

So there is this group/magazine/cult/commieclique called Adbusters, and they are currently support Buy Nothing Day where on black Friday you sit at home and don't purchase anything. While noble no doubt this year is most certainly not the time to pull this shit, not with the economy balancing on the edge of a knife like it is. Their cause might be noble to those uninformed masses who spend their ivy league college days smoking pot and shagging blondes by the dozen, the rest of us with a modicum of intelligence realize that they are nothing but fools to advocate such nonsense as Buy Nothing Day.

The overall lack of consumer confidence is part of the reason the economy is in the shitter right now and they want to try to hurt the economy further by telling people NOT to buy things? If I were a raving right-wing hardliner I might call that downright un-american and suggest that they be tried in tribunals as terrorists for advocating an action that will adversely affect the economy. I wont however because I know they are just misguided youth who have developed a ill informed dislike for capitalist ideas and consumerism in general; they shun such things even though all of the good things they have in their lives right now are almost a direct result of such movements. The alternatives are not all the mouth-breathers would have us believe and I for one would prefer this system to the ones touted as superior (which generally are not but that's another post)
